A music video is a video that has a song or elements of music played with imagery that is used to promote musical artists. It is also used to establish the genre and the artist's identity

What are music videos?

- Music videos invented to advertise singles through TV airplay, e.g. MTV.

- Music video channels are often referred to as Narrowed Channels.

What are music videos now?

- Music videos have become their own media product.

- Music Videos are mostly consumed online, such as YouTube. (By 2011, YouTube had become the main way in which music is consumed)

- Nowadays, music videos promote artists/bands, singles/album releases, tours and films.

- They establish the artist/bands's 'Star Persona' and performance skills.
